Women's Basketball Returns to BIG EAST Action Against DePaul and Seton Hall

Omaha, Neb. -- Closing the non-conference season with a 4-5 mark, including a decisive 92-48 win at Omaha, Creighton Women's Basketball returns to BIG EAST action as the Bluejays host DePaul and Seton Hall in back-to-back contests on Saturday, Dec. 20 (DePaul) and Monday, Dec. 22 (Seton Hall).

This season both teams add a lot of new faces to the court as Creighton has seven newcomers, while Seton Hall has eight newcomers.
This season the Pirates started strong with four consecutive
victories. Since then Seton Hall is 3-3, including back-to-back wins over Auburn and Washington State at home.
Four Pirates enter the weekend averaging double digits, led by Savannah Catalon (14.3 ppg) and Mariana Valenzuela (13.7 ppg). Last season Jada Eads had a superb freshman campaign and has picked up right wear she left off with 12.1 ppg as well as a team best 41 assists.
Scouting Creighton
After starting the season 1-4, the Bluejays have won four of their last five. The lone loss came in a competitive battle at home against Kansas State.
The Bluejays have struggled at home, going 1-3 at DJ Sokol Arena.
Freshmen lead the way for Creighton this season. Neleigh Gessert averages 12.5 ppg, while fellow freshman Ava Zediker checks in a 12.2 ppg.
The last time out the Bluejays posted a 42-point win over Omaha with a 92-48 victory.
More than a Decisive Showing Against the Mavericks
Creighton's 92-48 win at Omaha on Dec. 17 provided a plethora of individual and team bests. It was the largest victory since the Bluejays defeated Xavier 99-57 on Feb. 27, 2024. The last time Creighton posted a larger win was its 53-point win over Northern Iowa on Dec. 3, 2023.
Neleigh Gessert, Elizabeth Gentry, Norah Gessert and Tara Dacic posted career-highs with 25, 17, 15 and two points respectively.
With 11 blocks it marked the first time Creighton had double-digit blocks since swatting away 10 blocks against Omaha on Dec. 5, 2018.
Gessert Twins Claim Millard
Bluejay twins Neleigh and Norah Gessert came to Creighton from Millard West HS. Facing Omaha on Millard Night, the duo showed out with a combined 10 three-pointers. Each Gessert connected five times from long range, while the Mavericks had just eight. With 16 treys as a team, Creighton scored 48 of its 92 points from beyond the arc.
McGee Finding her Form
Freshman Kendall McGee delivered her best performance of the season with 13 points and five assists in 32 minutes against Kansas State. McGee went 6-for-11 against the Wildcats, her first double-digit output of the season.
Gentry Becoming Sharp Shooter
Bluejay center Elizabeth Gentry entered the season 9-for-20 from the field, including 0-for-2 from long range. After 10 games in the 2025-26 season, Gentry is 9-for-20 from long range alone, including a 3-for-3 showing against Omaha on Dec. 17. Gentry has found the range from beyond the arc in six of Creighton's 10 contests.
