Men's Golf Handles St. John's in BIG EAST Match Play

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. -- The Creighton men's golf team closed out BIG EAST Match Play on Tuesday with a 5.5 - 1.5 victory over St. John's.
Four Bluejays had decisive victories, led by Brock Kuhlman's 6&4 win over Frank Wu. Kuhlman had six birdies in 14 bogey-less holes and never trailed in his match. Grant Feldman also birdied six of the 14 holes he played in a 5&4 triumph.
Gavin Gerch eagled his third hole of the day and never trailed in his 5&3 win over David Mlynek. Henry Kuehne finished off a perfect week with a 5&4 win over his own, as he won three of the first four holes and cruised to his third win in 36 hours.
Owen Mackin had Creighton's biggest comeback win of the day. Starting on the back nine, Mackin lost four of the first six holes against Doug Beney and still trailed by two holes with seven to play. He regrouped to win five of the final six holes to wrap up a 3&1 victory, capping his comeback with a birdie on the 174-yard eighth hole.
Jacob Kutner was responsible for the final margin, halving his match against Brandon Sperling. Sperling won four of the first seven holes, but Kutner rallied by winning four of the last five holes to earn the tie.
All told, Creighton's seven golfers shot a combined 9-under par on the day. The match was played at Bear Lakes Country Club in West Palm Beach, Fla., a par 72 course with a 7,439 yard layout.
Creighton is back on the course on March 24-25 at the Bell Bank "Pay It Forward" Collegiate in Litchfield Park, Ariz.
