Men’s Tennis Falls to Abilene Christian, 6-1

WACO, Texas – The Creighton men's tennis team fell 6-1 to Abilene Christian on Saturday afternoon at the Hurd Tennis Center in Waco, Texas.
The loss dropped the Bluejays to 11-9 on the year, while the Wildcats improved to 8-6 overall.
Freshman Mathis Dahler earned Creighton's lone victory with a three-set win at the No. 4 singles position. Dahler edged out Dennis Dutine for a 5-7, 7-5, 11-9 win at the No. 4 spot, only after Abilene Christian clinched the match with straight-set wins at the No. 1, No. 2, No. 3 and No. 5 singles positions, as well as a three-set win on the No. 6 singles court.
ACU secured the doubles point with wins at the No. 1 and No. 3 doubles positions. Jorge Aza and Dutine teamed up for a 6-3 win on the No. 3 doubles court, before Merse Deli and Ethan Scribner combined for a 6-3 victory at the top doubles spot to clinch the first point of the match.
The Bluejays will continue its Texas road swing on Sunday when it takes on No. 8 Baylor at 6:00 p.m. in Waco.
