Men’s Tennis Drops Non-Conference Battle at No. 8 Baylor, 7-0

WACO, Texas – The Creighton men's tennis team dropped a 7-0 decision to No. 8 Baylor as the Bluejays were unable to recover after dropping the doubles point on Sunday night at the Hurd Tennis Center in Waco, Texas.
The loss dropped the Bluejays to 11-10 on the year, while Baylor improved to 16-7 overall.
The Bears took early control by winning the top two doubles courts to secure the opening point. Baylor's Calvin Baierl and Davin Badenhorst clinched the first point of the match with a 6-3 win on the top court, after Arman Zamani and Connor Van Schalkwyk claimed a 6-2 win on the No. 2 doubles court.
Baylor continued their dominance in singles play, clinching the overall dual with straight sets wins on the No. 1, No. 2 and No. 5 singles courts.
Zsombor Valcz took down Kirtan Patel, 6-1, 6-1 at the top singles spot, moments before Luc Koenig defeated Yuma Daijima, 6-2, 6-3 on the No. 2 singles court to give the Bears a 3-0 lead. Calvin Baierl then clinched the dual with a 6-1, 6-4 win over Lucas Mommessin on the No. 5 singles court.
Louis Bowden followed with a 6-3, 6-1 win on the No. 4 single court, before Drew Hedgecoe and Alexandru Chirita closed out the victory with straight set victory on the No. 3 and No. 6 singles courts.
The Bluejays will return to the courts on Friday, April 3 when they travel to Cincinnati for a BIG EAST matchup at Xavier.
