Scouting Creighton (13-12)
Nearing the end of its six-game homestand, Creighton enters the game with Nebraska with four wins in five contests.
A 6-2 win in the series opener saw, Teddy Deters and Ben North power the Bluejays past an early 2-0 deficit. In the finale on Sunday, the Bluejays pushed three runs across in the ninth to secure the series win.
The tandem of Ben North and Nate McHugh guide the Bluejay offense at .368 and .320 respectively, while freshmen Nick Bowron and Joe Washburn are both impressive at .308 and .300.
On the bump the Bluejays have a 6.11 ERA, but have a 3.60 ERA over the last five games.
Scouting No. 19 Nebraska (22-6)
Riding a six-game win streak, No. 24 Nebraska most recently swept Indiana at Hawks Field, completing the series shutout with two 12-run games to end the series.
Indiana made for stiff competition in the first game. After trailing 5-0 through five innings, the Hoosiers rebounded with four runs in the sixth inning and one in the seventh — only giving up one run to Nebraska over the five-run, two-inning stretch — to draw the score within one, 6-5.Â
Indiana couldn't fully complete the comeback, as Nebraska's J'Shawn Unger retired all six batters he faced in the eighth and ninth innings to squeak out the victory.
Nebraska's offense provided all the necessary firepower in the final two games of the series, as the Huskers cruised to a 12-7 victory in the second and 12-4 decision in the final outing.Â
Seven proved the magic number in both contests, as the Huskers recorded seven runs in the seventh inning to seal the second game and did one better in the third, scoring eight runs in the seventh frame to solidify the sweep.Â
Dylan Carey spearheaded Nebraska's offense in the final game, going 4-of-4 from the plate with a homer and four RBI to show for it. Carey holds the second-place seat offensively this season with a .397 batting average in 27 games, but holds a team-high eight home runs and 42 RBI.
Carey trails only Mac Moyer in batting average this season. Moyer holds an efficient .413 batting average in 28 appearances.
Scouting Connecticut (14-15, 2-1 BIG EAST)
The Huskies opened Big East conference play with a 2-1 series victory over Xavier at home.Â
Connecticut started the first two games strong, posting a combined 11-1 advantage over the first two contests.Â
In the first game, the Huskies ran in all three runs on the afternoon in the fourth inning. On the mound, pitcher Charlie West helped seal the game, playing 6.2 shutout innings, allowing just three hits to pair with four strikeouts.Â
An 8-0 victory in the second game secured the series for the Huskies, as scoring runs spread throughout the game were supplemented by eight shutout innings for Connecticut pitcher Cayden Suchy. The lefty pitcher limited the Musketeers to a single run and struck out 10 batters.
Xavier got the last word, recording a 6-1 victory to end the series. The Musketeers had already amassed a 4-0 lead by the time the Huskies found success with one run in the seventh inning, but two additional runs for Xabier in the eighth secured the victory for the visiting team.
Offensively, Chris Polemeni leads the Huskies with a .374 batting average, while Jackson Marshall (.357), who ran in the first Huskies run in Connecticut's first victory of the series, holds a team-high eight home runs to pair with 22 RBI.
Bluejays Move to 8-4 in One-Run Contests
Entering the home game with Nebraska, Creighton has played 12 one-run games. The Bluejays have won the last five one run battles, and seven of the last eight, moving their mark to 8-4 in such contests. Two of Creighton's four wins this week came in walk off fashion
Speaking of Walk Offs
Creighton rallied to defeat Omaha (7-6 on March 24) and Sacramento State (4-3 on March 29), delivering the team's third true walk off win (ending the game as the home team) and the fifth time this season Creighton has won a game in the final frame. Against the Mavericks on March 24, the Bluejays' winning run crossed on a wild pitch. While on March 29 against the Hornets, Nick Bowron delivered an RBI single to end the game.

Huskers Have Made Themselves at Home at Charles Schwab
While Creighton has gotten the best of Nebraska in the series (14 wins in the last 18 games), the Huskers have gotten veryÂ
comfortable at Charles Schwab Field Omaha.Â
Not only the Bluejays' home field, Charles Schwab Field is the location of the B1G Tournament. The back-to-back tournament champions, Nebraska has won 10 consecutive games at Charles Schwab Field.
The last Nebraska loss the Bluejays home was the opening game of the 2024 B1G Tournament, a 15-2 loss in seven innings to Ohio State on May 21, 2024.

Pineau and Goldenbaum Have Solidified Ace and Closer Role
Junior Jack Pineau and sophomore Matt Goldenbaum appear to have given stability to the Bluejay rotation by claiming the ace (Pineau) and closer (Goldenbaum) roles.
Pineau delivered the longest outing of the season on Friday with seven innings without an earned run in Creighton's 6-2 win over Sacramento State.Â
Goldenbaum, meanwhile, lowered his ERA to 0.71 as he picked up the win in the finale against the Hornets.
