Deters and Venteicher Each Bash a Pair as Baseball Defeats Omaha, 15-10

The long ball factored mightily in the opening innings as Deters and Venteicher got Creighton rolling with two run blasts in the second. Ben North added a solo shot in the top of the third, while Omaha got three runs including a two-run shot from Jackson Trout in the third.
Creighton responded with five runs in the fourth, getting an RBI single from North, a two-run single from Connor Capece and scoring two on wild pitches to take a 9-3 edge.
The Bluejays tacked on two in the fifth and two in the sixth, including a solo shot by Deters to build a 14-3 edge.
Omaha avoided a run-rule loss with two in the seventh, then plated four in the eighth to bring the game to 14-9.
Venteicher put the exclimation on the win with a solo shot in the ninth.
Bluejay starter Max McClellan nabbed the win (2-0) with two innings of scoreless ball, while Omaha starter Michael Sall took the loss (0-1). Sall allowed three runs on two hits and a walk in 1.2 innings.
Creighton returns to action on Friday, April 24 as the Bluejays open a three-game series with Butler at 6:00 pm in Charles Schwab Field Omaha.
