Women’s Tennis Earns 19th Straight ITA All-Academic Team Award, Eight Individuals Honored as Scholar-Athletes

TEMPE, Ariz. – The Creighton Women's Tennis team claimed an Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) All-Academic Team award for the 19th consecutive season, while eight individuals garnered scholar-athlete awards, the ITA announced on Monday afternoon.
The Bluejay's, coached by Tom Lilly, accumulated a 3.64 GPA last fall and a 3.65 GPA in the spring, marking the 19th consecutive year that Creighton has attained ITA All-Academic Team recognition. In addition to its ITA award, the women's tennis program also claimed its 14th straight perfect APR rating in early May.
Recent graduates Annika Elvestrom and Ana Paula Martinez earned ITA Scholar-Athlete status for the fourth consecutive year, while junior Elsa Jurrens and sophomores Philippa Roy and Sophie Schwartz claimed the honor for the second time in their careers. Sophomore Karli Vo and freshmen Livia Rodrigues Daud and Mithila Dixit, meanwhile, earned their first ITA Scholar-Athlete Award following solid performances in the classroom this past year.
Creighton's eight honorees were tied for second-most in the BIG EAST this year, trailing only Villanova's league-leading 10 honorees.
A total of 1,501 Division I Women's Tennis student-athletes were named ITA Scholar-Athletes with 231 women's tennis programs claimed the All-Academic Team distinction.
To be nominated for ITA Scholar-Athlete consideration, a student-athlete must meet the following criteria: 1.) have a grade point average of at least 3.5 (on a 4.00 scale) for the current academic year, and 2.) be listed on the institutional eligibility form. Team listed on the All-Academic Team list, meanwhile, boast a team GPA of 3.20 or higher.
