Kristi Woodard enters her third season on the women’s basketball staff as a graduate manager. Creighton’s all-time leader in free-throw accuracy played basketball from 2002 through 2006 before completing her collegiate playing eligibility on the volleyball squad in the fall of 2006.
One of 19 1,000-point scorers in school history, Woodard is involved in film exchange and camps as part of the Bluejay staff. A starter in parts of all four seasons with the Bluejays, she appeared in 110 games with 68 starts at guard during her career. Her senior season was cut short due to a shoulder injury, limiting her to 19 games in 2005-06.
Woodard concluded her career as Creighton’s leader in free-throw percentage, making 188-of-218 in her career for 86.2 percent. She also owns the top two single-season free-throw marks in school history. A pure shooter, she ranks fifth in three-point accuracy (39.8) and tenth in three-pointers made (132) in school history.
The Bellevue, Neb., native was named to the Missouri Valley Conference All-Freshman Team after helping the Bluejays to a share of the 2002-03 regular-season title and appearance in the WNIT Final Four. As a sophomore she started 17 games in Creighton’s WNIT Championship season. She ended her career ranked 16th in scoring at CU with 1,110 points.
Woodard’s younger sister, Kelsey, is a sophomore on this year’s team and wearing her old No. 3, while her sister-in-law, Heidi Geier Woodard, is a member of the Creighton Athletics Hall of Fame for her standout softball career with the Bluejays. Her father, Doug, is the boys basketball coach at Bellevue West High School, where he led the Thunderbirds to state titles in 2004 and 2005.
Woodard graduated in spring 2006 with a degree in journalism / public relations. She is currently working on her master’s degree in liberal studies.
