
Cowgirls Buck Women's Tennis, 6-1

LINCOLN, Neb. - Wyoming (2-0) won all but one match over Creighton (1-4), as the Cowgirls topped the Jays, 6-1, at the Nebraska Tennis Center, late Saturday afternoon.
Doubles play opened the dual, as Leesa and Sarah Cadwallader fell in the first match to Simona Synkova and Kim van Ginkel, 8-3, at the No. 1 slot.
The Cowgirls posted two more doubles victories, with Sarah Summerfield and Sasa Nemcova downing Anna Kirshenbaum and Kelsey Schmidt, 8-6, at No. 2, and Alexandra Kovacs and Paloma Navarro topping Tess Reddin and Lindsey Erickson at No. 3, 8-3.
Kirshenbaum gave the Jays their only victory of the afternoon at No. 3 singles, defeating Rebecca Berger, 6-4, 6-1. It was all Cowgirls after that, as they posted the next five singles match wins.
Summerfield, the 16th ranked player in the Mountain region, tallied a win at No. 1 over Reddin, 6-3, 6-1. None of the Jays won more than two games in a set for the remainder of the afternoon, as Kovacs topped Lauren Mastro, 6-1, 6-1 at No. 2, followed by a van Ginkel, 6-2, 6-0 victory over Schmidt at No. 4.
The Cowgirls wrapped up the win with W's at No. 5 and 6, as Nemcova defeated Erickson, 6-2, 6-2 and Navarro cruised past Mary Pat McMullan, 6-1, 6-2.
The Jays next dual will be on Friday, February 12 at the Koch Family Tennis Center against UMKC. Action begins at 7:00 p.m.
