Women's Tennis Shuts Out Doane on Senior Day

OMAHA, Neb. – The Creighton women's tennis team shut out Doane 7-0 on Senior Day at the Hanscom Tennis Center on Tuesday afternoon.
Creighton (9-9) swept all of the matches in convincing fashion against Doane (1-6) while celebrating the Bluejay senior class of Jennie Hartjes, Amanda Noonan and Liz Vermillion.
All three seniors won decisions in both singles and doubles and ended their final home match with 6-0 set wins to claim a final singles victory at home.
Creighton opened by sweeping the doubles point. Hartjes and freshman Darby Rosette won 8-1 at the top spot. Vermillion and junior Sam Anderson blanked the Tigers duo at No. 2 doubles 8-0. On court three, Noonan and sophomore Katherine Nelsen won handily at 8-1.
Hartjes was the first off the court with a 6-1, 6-0 victory at No. 1 singles. Vermillion followed with a 6-2, 6-0 win on court six. Noonan wrapped up the day with a 6-3, 6-0 victory on court three.
Freshman Natalie Miller and Anderson each posted a double-bagel victory on courts four and five, respectively, while Nelsen claimed a 6-0, 6-1 victory at No. 2 singles.
Creighton is back in action on Saturday against Omaha.
