Women's Tennis Puts Finishing Touches On Omaha Invite

OMAHA, Neb. -- Creighton Women's Tennis put the finishing touches on a stellar weekend of competition Sunday, winning five different flights at the UNO Invitational in Omaha.
In doubles play, Claire Embree and Sam Anderson completed their sweep of the 'C' flight, knocking off UNO's Kenzie Hill and Janelle Wilson, 8-4.
Meanwhile, Creighton's duo of Karlin Naslund and Ashley Monaco also took home a flight title, sweeping the 'D' doubles flight with an 8-1 victory over UNO's Hannah Hills and Rachel Skolaski in the final.
Freshman Ashley Ishimura captured the 'A' singles flight title, completing a 3-0 weekend by outlasting Augustana's Kornelia Staniszewask in a grueling three-set finale, 6-3, 3-6, 6-2.
Also in singles play, Naslund and Monaco capped off their weekend with victories in the 'D' and 'E' flights. Both Naslund and Monaco went unbeaten in the 'D/E' flights.
Creighton will continue fall competition as the Bluejays return to Omaha next weekend for the Omaha Collegiate Invitational, with play beginning Friday, Oct. 2.
