Women's Tennis Tops Tarleton State, 5-2

LAKELAND, Fla. -- The Creighton women's tennis team won five of six singles spots and improved to 6-4 on the spring with a 5-2 win over Tarleton State on Tuesday evening in Lakeland, Fla.

Creighton lost the doubles point, as Sam Anderson and Claire Embree at No. 2 doubles were the only victors for CU.

Creighton won five of the six singles matches, with all of them in straight sets.

Ashley Monaco, Ashley Ishimura and Sam Anderson got the momentum turned with victories at No. 6, No. 1 and No. 5 singles. Tarleton got within 3-2 after a victory at No. 2 singles, but a 6-3, 6-3 triumph at No. 4 singles by Embree sealed the Bluejay win.

Katherine Nelsen also picked up a win at No. 3 singles for CU.

The Jays return to the court with an 11 am Central match vs. Norfolk State on Wednesday.
