Women's Tennis Picks Up 6-1 Win Over North Dakota

Bluejays win seven of nine matches
SIOUX FALLS, S.D. -- The Creighton women's tennis team defeated North Dakota 6-1 on Friday night in Sioux Falls, S.D.
The Bluejays are now 8-6 and have won five of their last six matches, including three straight.
Creighton started the night with a 6-0 loss at No. 2 doubles, but responded with wins at the No. 1 and No. 3 slots to clinch the doubles point.
Ashley Ishimura and Darby Rosette paired up for their seventh consecutive victory as a duo with a 6-2 win at the No. 1 position. Claire Embree and Hylan Miller helped the Bluejays take the doubles portion of the night with a 6-1 win at No. 3.
In singles play, Creighton picked up three straight-sets victories and a pair of three-set wins.
Miller, Ishimura and Michaela Henne each won in straight-sets, while Rosette and Embree notched wins in three frames.
Henne tallied her eighth consecutive victory with a 6-4, 6-1 win at the No. 3 position.
Embree extended her individual winning streak to five matches with a hard-fought three-set win. The sophomore fell 7-6 in the opening set and tied the match at 1-1 with a 6-4 second-frame win. In the deciding set, Embree won a super breaker 10-5 for Creighton's final victory of the night.
North Dakota's lone singles victory came in straight-sets at the No. 2 position.
The Bluejays are back on the courts in Sioux Falls, S.D. on Saturday night against South Dakota. The match is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
