CAYCE, S.C. -- The No. 6 seed Creighton women's tennis team started its run in the 2021 BIG EAST Tennis Championship Presented by JEEP with a 4-0 first round victory against Providence on Thursday morning at the Cayce Tennis & Fitness Center.
The Bluejays improved to 10-5 overall this season and advanced to Friday's quarterfinals, while the Friars ended their season at 2-10.
Creighton will face third-seeded Villanova on Friday at 8 a.m. Central.
The Bluejays started Thursday's match against the Friars by winning the No. 1 and 3 doubles positions to take the first point. Kate Krueger and Sarah Wilcox combined for a 6-2 win at the top slot, while Malvika Skukla and Erin Epperson earned a 6-1 win at No. 3. Krueger and Wilcox improved their season record to a team-best 8-5.
