Head coach Ross Paule is in his eighth year at the helm of the Bluejays.Â

The two squads met last season with the Cyclones earning a 1-0 win. The Bluejays lone win in the series came back on Sept. 6, 2019, when Skylar Heinrich delivered the game-winning goal for the Bluejays in the 88th minute.Â
The Bluejays are 1-4-1 against Iowa State in matches played at Morrison Stadium.Â
Grissom Nets First Career Goal
In her fourth season with the Bluejays, senior Jenny Grissom touched the back of the net for the first time in her career against Kansas City on Thursday, August 25.Â
Sophomore Azumi Manriki sent a ball through the Kansas City defense to the charging Grissom. Grissom gathered the pass and worked her way around a Roos defender before blasting a shot past Kansas City goalkeeper Riley Moore to give the Bluejays a 1-0 advantage in the 13th minute of the contest.Â
Judkins and Radke Deliver Game-Winning Goal
Locked into a 1-1 battle with under 20-minutes remaining in the match, Sophomore Alyssa Judkins delivered a game-winning goal to give the Bluejays a 2-1 win over Kansas City.
Judkins struck the back of the net during the 72nd minute after rebounding her own header from a free kick from junior Maddie Radke. Following a Kansas City foul, Radke delivered a perfectly placed cross into the box where Judkins headed the pass off the far post. She was able to recover and push across the game-winning goal for the Bluejays.
Home Sweet Home
Creighton began a stretch of five straight matches at home with a 2-1 win over Kansas City on Thursday.Â

Creighton Soccer Going Green
Spearheaded by senior Emma Yackley, the Creighton men's and women's soccer programs participated in Green Games on Thursday, August 25th as women's soccer team earned a 2-1 win over Kansas City and the men's soccer to dominated Oakland, 6-0.
Both matches were carbon neutral and had zero waste, meaning the electricity consumed at the matches had been offset by credits and all concessions were composted or recycled.Â
The goal of these matches were to promote a sustainable culture at Creighton and within our community, as well as to educate attendees about environmental stewardship.
Terrell Nabs Spot on BIG EAST Honor Roll
Senior goalkeeper Keelan Terrell earned a spot on the BIG EAST Honor Roll after recording eight saves and a shutout during the opening weekend at the Rumble in the Rockies event.
The Olathe, Kansas native, opened the 2022 season by recording her ninth career shutout against Montana, moving her into a tie for ninth on Creighton's all-time career shutout's list. She followed that up with five saves during a 1-1 draw against Gonzaga on Aug. 21.Â
LOVE To See Her Back
Sixth-year senior Juelle Love returned to the pitch for the first time in 529 days in Creighton's 0-0 draw against Montana on Aug. 18, 2022.Â
Love torn her ACL during a match against Xavier on March 7, 2021, and missed the rest of the 2020 season (played in the spring) and the entire 2021 fall season.Â
Love has appeared in 37 matches over four seasons, logging 1,520 minutes of action.
Scoring First Yields Success
Creighton finished 7-2-1 during the 2021 season when scoring first, but 0-8 when its opponent scores first.

Creighton's last come-from-behind victory and last victory when trailing at the half came during the 2020 season against DePaul (April 4), when Aida Kardovic and Lea Høiness each netted goals in the second half for a 2-1 win.Â
Scoreless Draw to Open Season
On Thursday night, Creighton played Montana to a 0-0 draw to open the 2022 season.Â
It was the Bluejays first season-opening tie since battling South Dakota State to a 0-0 double  overtime draw in the 2010 season-opener.Â
It was also the first season-opening shutout for the Bluejays since topping South Dakota, 1-0, on Aug. 21, 2015.

A first half goal by junior Abigail Santana lifted the Creighton women's soccer team to a 1-0 win over South Dakota in an exhibition match on Saturday, Aug. 13.Â
Santana put the Bluejays on the board in the 37th minute, beating the Coyotes goalkeeper one-on-one and sending the ball into the back of the net.
Creighton outshot South Dakota 12-2, including holding the Coyotes shotless in the first half.
Season Outlook
The 2021 season got off to a stellar start as the Bluejays opened the year 6-1-1. Injuries, however, took a toll on the Bluejays as head coach Ross Paule guided his seventh Creighton team to a 7-10-2 record during the 2021 campaign.Â
Creighton looks to rebound with the return of 11 players who started 10 more matches a season ago and will be seeking its second trip to the BIG EAST Tournament in the past three seasons.
Individually, striker Aida Kardovic was named Preseason All-BIG EAST and produced on the pitch earning All-BIG EAST First Team honors for the second straight season.Â
Kardovic finished second on the team last season with three goals and two assists. The senior owns 21 starts during two seasons of action in Omaha and will be relied on to provide an offensive spark.Â
Junior Abigail Santana returns as the only player to record at least 10 points last season after pacing the team with eight goals. Santana will look to build off of her sophomore campaign and continue to contribute to the Bluejays' attack.
Ansley Atkinson, a co-captain of the 2021 squad, is expected to return to the pitch this season after having her year cut short due to a knee injury. Atkinson tallied a total of nine assists, which led all of Division 1, before suffering her injury. The fifth-year graduate student will once again make an impact in guiding the Bluejays offense.
Defenders Jordy Rothwell, Maddie Radke, Gabby Grimaldi and Peighton Steffen each return after playing significant roles for the Bluejays backline, which produced seven shutouts a season ago. Rothwell, a co-captain, started each of the first 12 matches and scored a pair of goals before suffering a season-ending foot injury. Steffen stepped up in the absence of Rothwell to lead the backline, starting all 19 contests and logging a team-high 1,764 minutes of action a year ago.
Senior Keelan Terrell is expected to lead Creighton's defense in her third season as the starting goalkeeper. The Olathe, Kan., native started all 19 matches in goal, posting a 0.98 goals against average. Terrell recorded seven clean sheets, including a stretch of five straight shutouts that set a program record with 507:38 consecutive minuteswithout allowing a goal.Â
Creighton welcomes in 11 newcomers for the 2022 season, which includes six freshmen, four players with two years of experience and one with one year of playing experience.
Ariana Mondiri, a transfer from the University of Northwestern Ohio, tallied 25 goals and five assists on the way to First Team All-Wolverine Hoosier Athletic Conference and NAIA Honorable Mention All-American honors in her two seasons with the Racers. A proven goal scorer, Mondiri will make an immediate impact in the Bluejays offensive production.Â
Lara Kazandjian comes to the Hilltop after playing two seasons at Memphis. As a Tiger, Kazandjian tallied two goals while appearing in 19 matches. Â
Freshmen Ella Findlay and Jess Torres are also expected to make an immediate impact for the Bluejays this season.Â
The Bluejays will be tested from the first day of the regular season as Creighton opens the year away from home for matches against Montana and Gonzaga.Â
Creighton starts its home slate with a match against Kansas City to open a stretch of five straight contests inside the friendly confines of Morrison Stadium. In total, Creighton will host 10 regular-season matches.Â
The Rothwell Sister Duo
In their second season on the pitch together, sisters Hailey and Jordy Rothwell have a special bond on the field. It is a unique experience that a lot of people don't get to do.Â
This season Creighton is one of 50 Division I schools to have a set of sisters playing on the same team. Of those 50 schools, nine schools have two sister tandems.
