Women’s Tennis Defeats Villanova, 4-3, To Earn Third Win in Two Days

ORLANDO, Fla. – The Creighton women's tennis team continued to find success in Orlando as the Bluejays defeated Villanova, 4-3, in a BIG EAST battle on Tuesday at the USTA National Campus in Orlando, Florida.
With the victory, the Bluejays moved to 11-2 on the year and 2-1 in BIG EAST play, while Villanova fell to 2-8 overall and 0-1 in league action.
The doubles team of junior Malvika Shukla and graduate Leanne Kendall started the afternoon off for the Jays in winning fashion, as they recorded a 6-0 win at the top doubles position. The duo of Bianca Rademacher and Kate Krueger followed with a 6-2 victory at the No. 3 doubles spot to earn the first point of the match.
Shukla set the tone for Creighton in singles play, earned a 6-2, 6-0 victory at the top singles position to move to 12-0 on the year in singles. Sophomore Valerie Negin followed suit, as she put the Bluejays on the verge of take the contest with her 6-3, 6-2 victory at the No. 4 spot. Rademacher sealed the third straight win for Creighton following her 6-2, 6-3 decision on the No. 5 singles court.
Villanova ended the match with wins on the No. 2, No. 3 and No. 6 singles court to cut the deficit to 4-3.
Creighton takes on Butler in another BIG EAST conference match on Wednesday at 2 p.m. Central from the USTA National Campus in Orlando, Fla.
