Second Half Surge Pushes Men's Soccer to Verge of Clinching Spot in BIG EAST Tournament

Bluejays Defeat Butler 6-1
Following Saturday's result the Bluejays are 8-5-3 on the season and 3-3-1 in BIG EAST action, while Butler fell to 4-9-3 overall and 1-6-0 in conference play.
Down 1-0 after ten minutes, the Bluejays deliver six consecutive goals to claim the victory! Butler seized a 1-0 lead in the 10th minute (9:44) as Nick Okoro headed home a goal from six feet.
Creighton responded with the equalizer in the 16th minute (15:16) as Miguel Arilla finished a string that included seniors Jackson Castro and Mark O'Neill earning assists. Arilla received the critical pass from Castro, putting him ahead of the defense and one-on-one against the Butler keeper, Caleb Norris. A subtle shot to the right beat Norris to make it 1-1.
The score remained deadlocked at 1-1 through halftime, but the second half was decisively the Bluejays' domain.
Creighton took the lead 2-1 in the in the 55th minute as Amos Boum Nlend sent home his first goal of the season by redirecting a crossing pass by Aaron Deppe and Castro.
Celebrating Senior Day the tandem of Castro and O'Neill accounted for the next three Bluejay goals. O'Neill scored in the 68th minute on a corner, while Castro pushed in goals in the 75th and 77th minutes. Creighton's final tally came from Ali Ramadan in the 81st minute.
Castro closed what could be his final home match with six points on two goals and two assists.
"I thought we came out a little slow, but really proud of the second half response from our guys," said head coach Johnny Torres.
Creighton closed the match with a shot edge of 13-10 as well as an even battle of 7-7 on corners.
The Bluejays close out the regular season at Marquette on November 2nd in a match set to begin at 1:00 p.m.
