Scouting Creighton
The Bluejays have won four of the last five contests, helping Creighton clinch a spot in the BIG EAST Tournament. With one match left in the regular season the Bluejays face Marquette with seeding and matchups on the line.
Creighton's offense received a shot in the arm against Butler on Saturday, delivering its highest goal output of the season. Trailing 1-0 early in the first half, Creighton scored six consecutive goals, including two from senior Jackson Castro.
Castro also added a pair of assists, becoming the first Bluejay to score at least six points since Duncan McGuire in 2022. Castro leads Creighton's offense with seven goals, seven assists and 21 combined points.
Supporting Castro on offense, Miguel Arilla has four goals and five assists for 13 points, while freshman Gavrilo Civric has contributed three goals and five assists for 11 points.
Between the posts, goalkeeping duties have been helped by Blake Gillingham throughout the season. The Bluejay netminder has started all 16 matches, recording 1,440 minutes in goal while snaring 39 saves. Gillingham has posted eight victories including four via shutouts.
Scouting Marquette
The Golden Eagles enter the match with the Bluejays 0-3-3 in their last six contests. As a result Marquette is trying to fend off challenges from DePaul and Xavier to earn a spot in the BIG EAST Tournament. Marquette needs a win or draw against Creighton to lock up a spot, otherwise the Golden Eagles will be scoreboard watching. Â
Mitar Mitrovic leads Marquette's offense with five goals and one assist for 11 points. Two other Golden Eagles have delivered three goals this season in Mitchell Dryden and Justin Milovanov. The only other multiple goal scorer in 2024 for Marquette is Grant Locker with two.
The bulk of the goalkeeper duties this season have been held by Marten Brink, playing 1,243 minutes over 14 matches. He has allowed just 15 goals this season, while recording 51 saves.
Creighton's Seeding in the BIG EAST Tournament

Castro Delivers a Senior Send Off That Approched McGuire Levels
Playing in his final home game as a Bluejay, Jackson Castro delivered two goals and two assist to lift Creighton to a 6-1 win over Butler on Saturday, October 26. Castro's six point effort was the first time a Bluejay scored six points or more in a match since Duncan McGuire torched Seton Hall for eight points in the BIG EAST Tournament in the Bluejays' 6-0 win on Nov. 10, 2022. The two goal effort alone was the first time for a Bluejay this season and the first since Alfie Pope scored twice in Creighton's 3-2 win over #7 Akron last season on October 18.
Gillingham Extends Streak to 27 Consecutive Matches
Since breaking into the starting lineup against #13 Marquette last season on September 15, 2023, goalkeeper Blake Gillingham has played every minute of the Bluejays' last 27 matches. Logging 2,430 consecutive minutes, the San Jose native has 11 combined victories and five shutouts during that stretch.
Civric Handing Out Assists to All
Bluejay freshman Gavrilo Civric shined in Creighton's dominant victory over Butler (6-1) on October 26, recording three assists in just 21 minutes of play. The Serbian native is the first Bluejay to tally three assists in a match since Giorgio Probo posted three assists in a win over Rutgers on Aug. 28, 2022.
