Bluejay WBB Opens Emerald Coast Classic Against Wichita State

Destin, Florida -- Coming off a win over #21 Nebraska, the Creighton Women's squad begins action in the Emerald Coast Classic on Monday, November 25 against former MVC rival Wichita State at 7:30 p.m.
The game will be available on FloCollege as well as on radio locally on 1180 am

Emerald Coast Classic
Creighton's holiday tournament this season takes the Bluejays to Destin, Florida to compete in the Emerald Coast Classic. The Bluejays open play in the final game of the evening on Monday, November 25 against Wichita State. The following day Creighton will face either Missouri or Syracuse.
Scouting Wichita State (2-3)
The Shockers opened the season with five consecutive home games, but have dropped three of four contests. Wichita State fell 79-49 in its last game to #9 Oklahoma on Nov. 19.
Leading the way for Wichita State are guards Taylor Jameson and Salese Blow. The duo combine to average 23.2 ppg and have dished out a combined 29 assists.
Allowing just over 70 points per game, the Shockers have been active on the glass with 41.2 rebounds per game.
Scouting Creighton (2-2)
Through a four-game gauntlet of four NCAA Tournament teams to begin the season the Bluejays have won both home games and dropped the two on the road.
Creighton's best performance of the season came in its last game as the Bluejays defeated #21 Nebraska, 80-74.
The offensive guide this season has been senior Lauren Jensen. The Minnesota native has topped 30 in a pair of games and is averaging 23.8 ppg. Morgan Maly has been Jensen's running mate with 16.0 ppg, but the difference against the Huskers was the emergence of Mallory Brake and Molly Mogensen. The duo delivered 23 combined points in the win over Nebraska.
Creighton is averaging just under 75 ppg (74.8), but needs to improve on the glass as the Bluejays bring 29.5 ppg.
Mogensen Shining in the Brightest Lights
Through four games senior Molly Mogensen has been near perfect in the fourth quarter. She is 8-for-10 from the floor with 22 of her 30 points this season in the final 10 minutes of the game.
Brake's Trey Highlights All-Around Game Against Huskers
Senior Mallory Brake delivered her best game of the season in a rivalry game as Brake scored 11 points, grabbed six rebounds and four steals and dished out three assists in the Bluejays' 80-74 win over No. 21 Nebraska on Nov. 22. Brake's biggest shot came with under three minutes in the final frame as her three-pointer from the corner gave the Bluejays' a 69-66 lead. It also ignited an 8-0 Creighton run to help the Bluejays secure their eighth win in the last nine games with Nebraska.
Brake and Mogensen are Difference Makers for Bluejays
The difference in Creighton's win over #21 Nebraska and one pivotal factor for the Bluejays' success this season will be the play of seniors Mallory Brake and Molly Mogensen. Against the Huskers the tandem of Brake and Mogensen combined for 23 points, 10 rebounds, 10 assists and four steals.
