Women's Soccer Heads to BIG EAST Tourney After Beating St. John's in Regular-Season Finale
11/1/2025 3:08:00 PM | Women's Soccer
OMAHA, Neb. -- Two goals six minutes apart in the first half were more than enough as Creighton Women's Soccer defeated St. John's 3-0 to clinch a spot in next week's BIG EAST Tournament presented by JEEP.
The Bluejays, who were in a win-and-in scenario, secured the No. 4 seed and will meet either Georgetown or Xavier on Thursday in Germantown, Md., in the four-team BIG EAST Tournament. Creighton's (7-7-4, 4-3-3) fourth-place finish matches last year for the program's best showing since joining the BIG EAST in 2013, and marks the first time since 2011-12 that the Jays have made back-to-back conference tournaments.
Anna Bragg gave Creighton a 1-0 lead in the 31st minute with her fourth goal of the season, a header off a perfectly-placed corner kick off the boot of Olivia Sides. It was Sides' team-leading fourth assist of the fall.
Less than six minutes later the Bluejays doubled their lead, once again via a header. This time it was Jalen Chaney finding the back of the net for her fourth goal this year. The sequence started when Mallory Connealy won a loose ball near midfield and crossed it to Kendal Radke. Radke spun and one-timed back across the field into the goal mouth, where Chaney beat Red Storm goalkeeper Kayla Bower.
The Bluejays moved their lead to 3-0 in the 58th minute thanks to another brilliant passing sequence. Olivia Duray drove a ball 30 yards into the box to Connealy, who crossed a perfect pass across the goal box to Brynn Gradner for the senior's third goal of the year and 17th career score.
Creighton out-shot the Red Storm 12-7 and owned a 3-1 advantage in corners. Alyssa Zalac made three saves to earn her fourth shutout of the season. Her nine career shutouts are tied for 10th in program history.
St. John's ended its season with a 3-9-5 record and 1-6-3 BIG EAST mark.
