With the win, the Bluejays improved to 18-18 on the year, while the Redhawks fell to 14-18 overall.
Sophomore Tara Vandewater had two hits and four RBI to lead the Bluejays offense, which also saw freshman Zoey Greenwood go 2-for-5 with two runs scored and three runs driven in. The Bluejay offense supported a strong pitching outing from Harris, who earned her second win of the season after allowing just two runs on five hits in 3.2 innings of work.
Seattle wasted no time surging out in front as Mikee Morris blasted a leadoff home run in the top of the first to snag a 1-0 lead.
Creighton immediately went to work in the bottom half of the frame as Vandewater lasered a three-run home run off the left field foul pole to put the Jays out in front 3-1.
The Redhawks answered right back with three runs in the top of the second on a two-run double from Morris and an RBI groundout from her twin sister Avari Morris to retake a 4-3 lead.
CU, however, pushed two across in the home half of the inning on a two-run double into the left centerfield gap from Greenwood to surge back out to a 5-3 advantage.
Creighton would then extend its lead in the bottom of the third as Keegan Mayhue led off the frame with a four-pitch walk and pinch-runner Emma Bailey came around to score on a double from Erika Perez to make it 6-4 and force a Seattle pitching change. Senior Ella Dalton would follow with a single and stole base, before Ashten Pierson looped a two-run double down the right field line to push the lead to 8-4. Pierson scored two batters later as Barnard executed a squeeze bunt to extend the lead to 9-4.
Seattle cut into the Bluejays lead in the top of the fifth on a bases loaded walk to Brooklyn Jones, only to see the Jays tack on three runs on an RBI singles from Greenwood and Vandewater and a Seattle fielding error in the bottom half of the inning to pull ahead 12-5.
Down to their final three outs, Seattle pushed across run on an RBI single from Aurora Zapeda in the seventh to cut the final score to 12-6.
The Bluejays are back in action on Tuesday, March 31 as Creighton hosts in-state rival Nebraska at 5:00 p.m. in a Blue Out at the Creighton Softball Stadium.
