Scouting Creighton (14-15, 1-2 BIG EAST)
The Bluejays opened BIG EAST play with a tough series at UConn
Creighton's pitching could be getting some additions in the near future if not this week with the possible return of starter Wilson Magers and reliever Brendan Strenke. As a staff the Bluejays hold a 6.18 ERA entering the week.Â
Offensively the Bluejays are led by Ben North (.333) and Nate McHugh (.325), but the bottom half of the order is beginning to add length to the lineup. In the last 10 games, Creighton's best hitters are Isaac Wachsmann (.289) and Chris Baillargeon (.286).Â
Scouting North Dakota State (4-19)
North Dakota State comes to Omaha struggling this season at just 4-19. Adding to their struggles have been the battle with the weather, NDSU's last game came on March 21.Â
The Bison enter the midweek game at Charles Schwab Field Omaha hitting .205 as a team. The leading hitters are Caleb Corbin (.277) and Diego Trujillo (.262).
On the mound NDSU has a team ERA is 6.89 with 124 walks in 189.1 innings.
Scouting Seton Hall (11-14, 0-3 BIG EAST)
Seton Hall suffered a series sweep to local rival St. John's last weekend at home., then dropped a 12-7 decision at home to Rutgers. The Pirates gave up 48 runs in four games countering with 24 runs at the plate.
As a team the Pirates enter the week hitting .258 as a team, led by Gabe Cavazzoni (.326) and Ryan Frontera (.311).
On the mound Seton Hall has a 6.38 ERA with 115 walks in 208.2 innings.
Bison Bit Bluejays in 2025
While North Dakota State's 4-19 record isn't impressive, recall this was an NCAA Tournament team in 2025. Not only did NDSU reach the NCAA Tournament, the Bison eliminated Kansas and pushed the Bluejays to the brink in an 11-10 contest to reach the regional final.Â
Creighton's Best Innings Come Early and Late
The 2026 season has seen Creighton out score the opposition 25-13 in the first inning and 14-6 in the ninth inning and beyond. The only other frame that Creighton has scored more runs that its opponents is the second at 27-23.
First Game Sets the Tone
When the 2026 Creighton roster strikes first in a weekend series, it rarely lets go. In the five series where the Bluejays won the opener, they carried that momentum into a series victory four times — an 80% success rate in finishing opponents after drawing first blood.
Bluejays Move to 8-5 in One-Run Contests
Entering the Connecticut series, Creighton has played 13 one-run contests. The Bluejays have seven of the last nine,Â
moving their mark to 8-5.
Deters Heating Up for Final BIG EAST Run
Senior Teddy Deters is beginning to heat up as the Bluejays started BIG EAST action last weekend. The Creighton outfielder has reached base in 14 consecutive games to tie the longest stretch of the season. Nate McHugh also had a streak of 14 games that ended on March 29 against Sacramento State.
