CU sets the single season stolen base record with 93 stolen bases
Creighton improved to 21-20 on the year, while Drake dropped to 8-27 overall.
The Bluejays recorded six stolen bases on Wednesday night, pushing its singles season program record to 93 stolen bases, shattering the previous school record of 89 set back in 1991.
Creighton blitzed out to a 1-0 lead in the top of the first as freshman Zoey Greenwood led off the game with a single, stole second and third before scoring an RBI single up the middle from junior Kaelan Schultz.
Freshman Keegan Mayhue would add to the lead in the top of the second, launching her team-leading ninth home run of the season down the right field line, pushing the advantage to 2-0.
The Jays broke things open with a four-run third as Erika Perez delivered a sacrifice fly to right, Ella Dalton laced an RBI double to left and Greenwood followed with a two-run double down the left field line to extend the lead to 6-0.
Schultz would then blast a solo homer in the fourth to make it 7-0, before the Jays used a pair of suicide squeezes in the top of the fifth from Avery Barnard and Lily West to close out the 9-0 run-rule victory.
Junior Brooklyn Patchen was fantastic in the circle, recording her fifth win of the season after striking out six in the complete-game shutout. Schultz led the way offensively with a career-high tying three hits and two RBI, while Dalton and Greenwood each added a career-high tying three hits of her own in the victory.
Creighton will return home this weekend to host Georgetown in a pivotal three-game set, beginning on Friday at 6 p.m. at the Creighton Softball Stadium.
