Evansville Aces Women's Tennis, 6-1

OMAHA, Neb. ? The Creighton women's tennis team captured the doubles point in its Missouri Valley Conference match with Evansville on Sunday, but the Purple Aces swept the singles matches to come away with a 6-1 victory over the Bluejays at Hanscom Tennis Courts.

The Jays have now dropped four straight matches to fall to 5-8 overall and 0-4 in the MVC. Evansville improved to 11-7 and 1-2.

Sarah and Leesa Cadwallader were victorious at No. 1 doubles for the second straight day, defeating UE's top pair of Kate Chybowski and Pin Sorenson, 8-5. Lauren Mastro and Lindsey Erickson came away with a hard-fought, 9-8 decision at No. 2 doubles to clinch the team point.

The success did not carry over to singles play, however, as the Aces came away with victories in all six matches. The most competitive match took place in the top flight, as Erickson took the first set from UE's Lisa Kawamoto, but eventually fell 4-6, 6-2, 6-2.

The Creighton women will hit the road for a pair of MVC matches next weekend. The Jays will play at Bradley on Friday at 1 p.m., followed by a Sunday tilt at Indiana State.
