
Women's Tennis Falls in Final Regular Season Match

WATERLOO, Iowa - In their final regular season match, the Creighton women's tennis team fell 7-0 to Northern Iowa on Saturday. The Panthers won all singles matches in straight sets and won all three doubles matches. The loss drops the Jays to 11-10, 1-6 in the MVC, while UNI improves to 15-7, 5-0 in Valley play.
UNI took all three doubles matches, with the No. 1 and No. 3 doubles the same 8-2 score. Laia Gonzalez and Phoebe Walker defeated Anna Kirshenbaum and Analese Snyder in the No. 1 doubles, while Krissy Lankelma and Jessica Kunzelmann defeated Kelsey Schmidt and Lauren Mastro in the No. 3 doubles. Sarah Cadwallader and Leesa Cadwallader fell to Lara Okicki and Chelsea Moore 8-3 in the No. 2 doubles, giving the Panthers the sweep.
Singles play ran true to the doubles, as the Jays won just 17 games in the six singles matches. Walker defeated Kirshenbaum 6-1, 6-3 in the No. 1 singles. Schmidt then forced her No. 2 singles to three sets, the only match to go to three on the day, eventually falling 6-2, 4-6, 10-5 to Gonzalez. Okicki defeated Snyder 6-2, 6-0 in the No. 3 singles and Kunzelmann topped Mastro in the No. 4 singles.
The Panthers took the final two matches to complete the 7-0 shut out. Moore defeated Sarah Cadwallader 6-0, 6-2 in the No. 5 singles and Lankelma defeated Leesa Cadwallader by matching 6-1, 6-1 scores.
