Women's Tennis Dominates Doane During Senior Day Match, 7-0

Bluejays honored Ashley Monaco, Darby Rosette and Celine Massereau
OMAHA, Neb. -- The Creighton women's tennis team did not drop a set and lost a total of seven games during a 7-0 sweep of Doane on Sunday afternoon at the Koch Family Tennis Center. The Bluejays also celebrated the accomplishments of Ashley Monaco, Darby Rosette and Celine Massereau as part of Senior Day.
Creighton improved to 14-7 with the victory during its final match of the regular season.
Senior Darby Rosette and Kendra Lavallee started the afternoon with a 6-2 win at No. 3 doubles before Claire Embree and Erin Epperson won 6-1 at No. 2 to clinch the first point of the day, and the duo of Ashley Ishimura and Michaela Henne claimed a 6-0 win at the top spot.
The Bluejays lost a total of four games during singles play.
Julia Aguirre won 6-0, 6-0 at No. 6, and senior Ashley Monaco claimed a 6-1, 6-0 victory at No. 5 before Massereau sealed the overall match for Creighton with a 6-1, 6-0 win at the No. 4 position.
Rosette did not lose a game at No. 2, while Ishimura (6-0, 6-1, No. 1) and Laura Higueras (6-1, 6-0, No. 3) each dropped only one to finish the day.
Sunday also marked Creighton's first and only home match of the 2018 spring season that was played outdoors at the Koch Family Tennis Center.
"Today was a great day at Koch," head coach Tom Lilly said. "It was a special home finish being able to have each senior earn a point in their final home match."
Creighton returns to the courts on Thursday for the start of the BIG EAST Championships in Cayce, South Carolina.
