Women's Tennis Earns No. 7 seed for BIG EAST Championships

Bluejays will open play on Thursday at 8 a.m.
NEW YORK -Â The Creighton women's tennis team earned the No. 7 seed for the 2018 BIG EAST Women's Tennis Championship Presented by Jeep, which will be played Thursday, April 26 through Sunday, April 29 at the Cayce Tennis & Fitness Center in Cayce, South Carolina, the league announced on Monday afternoon.
The Bluejays concluded the regular season at 14-7, including 0-2 against BIG EAST opponents.
Creighton will open its postseason with a match against 10th-seeded Providence on Thursday at 8 a.m. Central.

Seeds are determined by the conference's tennis championship and coaches' seeding advisory committees that review each team's regular-season schedule, ITA rankings, results against BIG EAST and common non-conference opponents and wins/losses against ranked foes.

St. John's earned the No. 1 seed, while DePaul claimed the No. 2 position, followed by Marquette and Xavier for the top four spots. Â
Play begins on Thursday, No. 8 Butler and No. 9 Georgetown open the Championship with the first round of play at 9 a.m. ET. Seventh-seeded Creighton will also play against No. 10 Providence on Thursday at 9 a.m. ET.

On Friday, action continues with quarterfinals action beginning at 9 a.m. Eastern, starting with No. 1 St. John's facing the winner of Butler/Georgetown and No. 2 DePaul matching up against the winner of Creighton/Providence. No. 3 Marquette will face No. 6 Villanova and fourth-seeded Xavier scheduled to play No. 5 Seton Hall at 12:30 p.m. Eastern

Semifinal action continues on Saturday at 9 a.m. ET. The Championship match will be played on Sunday also at 9 a.m. Eastern.
