Women’s Tennis Cruises To 7-0 Senior Day Sweep of Doane

OMAHA, Neb. – The Creighton women's tennis team dropped just six total games as the Bluejays cruised to a 7-0 sweep over Doane on Sunday afternoon at the Koch Family Tennis Center. The Bluejays also celebrated the accomplishments of Kate Krueger and Leanne Kendall as part of Senior Day.
Creighton improved to 14-6 with the victory during its final home match of the 2023 season.
Senior's Kate Krueger and Leanne Kendall started the afternoon with a 6-0 win at the top doubles slot before Jeanne Gearity and Malvika Shukla teamed up for a 6-1 victory at the No. 2 doubles position to clinch the first point of the match. Junior Bianca Rademacher and sophomore Allison Wilcox also combined for a 6-3 win at the No. 3 doubles slot.
The Bluejays lost a total of two games during singles play as all six Bluejays captured straight set wins.
Krueger got things started with a quick 6-0, 6-0 win at the top singles position, while Wilcox and freshman Annika Elvestrom claimed identical 6-0, 6-0 wins on the No. 5 and No. 6 courts to give Creighton a 4-0 lead and clinch the overall dual.
Negin made quick work of her opponent with a 6-1, 6-0 win at the No. 2 spot, before Kendall captured a 6-1, 6-0 victory at the No. 4 singles slot. Sophomore Siri Kongara closed out the match with a 6-0, 6-0 win at the No. 3 singles position.
Creighton returns to the court on April 11 when they travel to Vermillion, S.D. to take on the South Dakota Coyotes at 2 p.m.
