
Women’s Tennis Earned No. 8 Seed For BIG EAST Championships, Opens Play Against Seton Hall

OMAHA, Neb. -- The Creighton women's tennis team earned the No. 8 seed for the upcoming 2025 BIG EAST Tennis Championships Presented by Jeep in Cayce, S.C., the league announced on Monday afternoon. The Bluejays will open tournament play on Thursday, April 17 at 8 a.m. Central against ninth seeded Seton Hall.
Creighton wrapped up the regular season with an 11-7 record, including a 1-2 mark against league opponents. The Bluejays lone BIG EAST win this season came versus Marquette (5-2) in Omaha on March 28. The Pirates enter the postseason sporting an 11-11 overall record and a 1-6 mark in BIG EAST play.
Creighton and Seton Hall have met in the BIG EAST Tournament once with the Bluejays posting a 4-1 victory. Seton Hall bested the Bluejays, 6-1, in the first meeting between two teams in 2019, while the Jays claimed a 5-2 victory over the Pirates in the most recent meeting in Orlando, Fla. last spring.
Senior Bianca Rademacher leads the Bluejays with 22 victories this season. The Lincoln, Neb. native has claimed 11 wins at the top singles position, while also teaming up with fellow senior Valerie Negin for nine wins and two addition wins with freshman Olivia Minikel at the No. 1 doubles position.
Along with her success in doubles, Negin has also contributed six wins in singles play. Freshman Philippa Roy has also been a force for the Bluejays this season, racking up a combined 15 victories. The Alabama native has captured nine victories across the No. 1, No. 2 and No. 4 singles positions, while picking up six total doubles wins at the No. 2 and No. 3 spots.
Freshman Alem Cote has played in the second most singles matches this season, ranking second on the team with nine total victories, while also posting four wins in limited doubles actions. Junior Annika Elvestrom and Minikel have also contributed to the Jays success, combining for a 6-2 record in doubles play this spring.
Cayce Tennis & Fitness center will host the BIG EAST Tennis Championships for the seventh consecutive year. The facility offers 30 lighted world-class courts with a championship-sized stadium court that has a viewing capacity of 500 spectators.
Seeding for the championships were determined by a committee that reviews each team's regular-season schedule, ITA ranking, results against BIG EAST and common non-conference opponents and wins/losses against ranked foes.
The BIG EAST Men's and Women's Championship matches will be streamed live on the BIG EAST Digital Network (BEDN) on FloSports. The Women's Championship match broadcast begins at 8 a.m. Central on Sunday, with the Men's Championship coverage to follow at 1 p.m. on Sunday.
