HARDEEVILLE, S.C. -- Creighton moved into third place after 36 holes at the BIG EAST Women's Golf Championships on Sunday, with Morgan Becker and Katharine Marshall remaining in the Top 10 of the individual standings. Additionally, Karsen Morrison had the program's first hole-in-one in competition since 2020 on the fifth hole.
Xavier (298-294=592) and Georgetown (308-296=604) are atop the tournament standings after 36 holes. Creighton (310-311=621) moved past Butler (307-316=623) to take over third place and remained ahead of Seton Hall (320-304=624) and St. John's (323-315=638). Creighton's best previous finish at the BIG EAST Championships was third place in both 2021 and 2023. The Bluejays took sixth a year ago.
Becker (77-75=152) moved up two spots from Saturday and is tied for eighth place with a 152 total, which puts her five shots behind tournament leader Xavier's Kara Carter (75-72=147). Carter's Musketeer teammates Madison Reemsnyder (75-73=148) and Emma Welch (73-75=148) are tied for second with first round leader Marta Aguilar (71-77=148) of Seton Hall, one shot back of Carter.
Marshall (76-77=153) remained in the hunt after a second round 77 that has her tied for 10th place and in position for the first Top 10 finish of the sophomore's career.
Sophomore Annie Dawson (78-79=157) is tied for 15th place, while freshman Julia Karmazin (80-80=160) carded her second straight 80 and is tied for 22nd place with 18 holes to play.
Morrison (79-84=163) sits in 27th place but had the shot of the day, as she aced the 124-yard fifth hole using a nine iron. It was the sophomore's first hole-in-one, and the first by a current Bluejay since Katie Allen aced the third hole on the same course of a practice round at the 2023 BIG EAST Championships. CU's last hole-in-one in competition had also come from Allen, coming at the Motor City Cup on Feb. 10, 2020.
The tournament is being played at Riverton Pointe Golf and Country Club on its Par 72 layout that measures 6,092 yards.
Creighton wraps up play at the BIG EAST Championships on Monday in search of its first BIG EAST title and the bid to NCAA Regionals that goes to the champion. The Bluejays will be paired in the final groups with Xavier and Georgetown, with their tee times beginning at 8 a.m. Central.
