Women's Golf Takes Seventh in Season Opener

Karsen Morrison places in the top 15
Lawrence, Kan. - Creighton Women's Golf started its 2025-26 season with a seventh-place finish at the Jayhawk Invitational with a 54-hole team score of 951.
Playing as an individual, junior Karsen Morrison tied for 14th place for the tournament, shooting scores of 74-76-78 for a total of 228. The 228 total marks Morrison's lowest 54-hole tournament score during her time as a Bluejay.
Senior Morgan Becker led the team score by shooting a 79, 75 and an 81 equaling a 235 which put her in a tie for 27th in the field of 11 teams and 59 competitors.
Abby Aeschleman placed 33rd by shooting scores of 85-73-80. This adds up for a total of 238 for three rounds for the junior from Colorado.
Sophomore Julia Karmazin and freshman Madison Murnan's scores were separated by one stroke with Karmazin shooting a three-day score of 242 (81-80-81) and Murnan shooting a 243 (81-82-80) in her freshman debut.
Tying with Murnan was junior Katharine Marshall. The Illinois native carded a three-day score of 82-78-83=243.
Concluding the Bluejay players was sophomore Kayla Maletto. Playing as an individual, Maletto shot a total of 248 for the three rounds for the tournament in Lawrence (81-81-86).
The tournament ended in a playoff between Kansas' Amy DeKock and Louisiana-Monroe's Daniela Campillo Martinez who both shot a total of +3 for the 54-hole tournament. Campillo Martinez shot a third round -3 (69) to boost herself up nine places in the leaderboard, but ultimately DeKock held out and won the playoff for her first collegiate win.
ULM (294-293-292) won the tournament with a +15 and was separated by 10 shots from Kansas (297-293-299) who placed second. The event was held at the Jayhawk Club, which measured 6,337 yards on its par 72 layout.
The Bluejays will begin their next tournament on September 8th playing in Springfield, Mo., at the MSU/Payne Stewart Memorial where the team placed sixth last fall.
