Women’s Tennis Claims Two Main Draw Titles During Final Day of Augustana Invite

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – The Creighton women's tennis team wrapped up its first weekend of play, claiming a pair of main draw titles as the Bluejays concluded play at the Augustana Invite in Sioux Falls, S.D. on Sunday.
Annika Elvestrom and Philippa Roy earned the Flight B Doubles championship, cruising to a pair of 8-1 victories over Omaha's Summer Shannon and Shelby Smith, and Augustana's Chelsea Seidewitz and Rhidaim Yang.
Mithila Dixit, meanwhile, started her freshman campaign with a perfect 3-0 mark in singles, capturing the Flight C Singles title with a 6-2, 6-2 straight-sets win over Nebraska-Kearney's Hannah Klaiber.
After advancing to the Flight A Finals on Saturday, sophomore Sophie Schwartz fell to Omaha's Nina Wiese, 6-1, 6-3 in the title match on Sunday. She bounced back quickly, teaming up with Teresa Tran to take down UNO's Jacqueline Pearsall and Khayli Buckels, 9-7, before dropping an 8-6 decision to Katelynn Kock and Wiese in the Flight A Doubles Championship.
Tran also claimed a 9-7 victory over Omaha's Khayli Buckels in the Flight A Consolation Final, while Karli Vo picked up an 8-0 win over Mankato's Lydia Sparby.
The Bluejays continue their fall schedule with the Creighton/Omaha Invite on Sept. 26 and 27th at the Kock Family Tennis Center in Omaha.
