Freshmen Reinkober and Atkinson Deliver First Result for Bluejay Women's Soccer, 1-0 Over UNO

Reinkober's goal pushes Bluejays past Mavericks
Omaha, Neb. -- The Bluejays' first tally of the season was all the defense needed as Creighton claimed the battle for the city, posting a 1-0 win over Nebraska-Omaha on Monday, Aug. 27.
The win lifted Creighton to 1-2-0 in 2018, while UNO fell to 0-3-1.
After a scoreless first half that saw each team fire off eight shots, the Bluejays seized control in the second period. Creighton out shot the Mavericks 6-2 in the final 45 minutes. The Bluejays also created four corner kicks in the second half and five overall.
Reinkober put the Bluejays in front in the 67th minute as fellow freshman Ansley Atkinson centered a ball to Reinkober. The German freshman blasted a shot from just outside the goalbox for the Bluejays' first score of 2018.
The shutout was the first for Bluejay redshirt freshman Katie Sullivan. Creighton's netminder recorded three saves, facing 10 shots in the match.
Creighton returns to the pitch on Friday, Aug. 31 as the Bluejays head to Michigan to face Eastern Michigan at 11:00 am
