Women's Soccer Suffers Heart Breaking 2-1 Defeat in the Final Minute at Eastern Michigan

Ypsilanti, Mich. -- Locked in a fantastic 1-1 battle in the final minute of regulation, the Creighton women's soccer team suffered a 2-1 loss to Eastern Michigan on Friday, Aug. 31 as the Eagles got the game-winning goal from Tessa Osborne with 31 seconds remaining in the match.
The loss dropped the Bluejays 1-3-0 on the season, while Eastern Michigan moved to 2-3-0.
The Eagles' two goals came in the two extreme ends of the contest as Eastern Michigan got on the board in the fourth minute of play and again in the 90th. Chloe Chatzis was credited with the opening goal, striking a goal in the from the left side of the box. Mikayla Cupp and Marla Cobetto collected assists on the play.
Creighton pulled even in the 65th minute as the Bluejays earned a penalty kick and junior Taryn Jakubowski blasted in her first goal of the season.
The game remained knotted at one until Obsorne mirrored the Eagles' opening goal from the right side of the box. This time assists were granted to Sabrina McNeil and Lindsey Shira.
Creighton was out shot in the match 25-13, while Eastern Michigan held a 13-3 edge on corner kicks.
The Bluejays return to the pitch on Sunday, Sept. 2 as Creighton completes its season-long five match road trip at South Dakota State. The contest is set to begin at 1:00 pm.
