Women's Soccer Upended at DePaul, 2-1 in Overtime

Chicago, Ill. -- Leading 1-0 at the half, the Creighton women's soccer team were unable to hold on as the Bluejays fell to DePaul 2-1 in overtime on Sunday, Sept. 30.
The loss moved Creighton to 4-7-0 on the season and 1-2-0 in BIG EAST action. DePaul, meanwhile, moved to 6-4-2 overall and 2-1-0 in conference play.
Creighton got on the board first, scoring in the 33rd minute, as junior Kylin Grubb headed in a centering pass from fellow junior Emma Braasch. It was Grubb's second goal of the season.
The Bluejays held the 1-0 edge through halftime, but DePaul was able to force Creighton into an own goal in the 55th minute as the Bluejays were unable to clear a volley into the box from Elizabeth Parrilli.
Both defenses tightened for the final 30 minutes of regulation, sending the match to overtime. The extra session saw the Blue Demons convert on their first opportunity. Madeline Frick blasted home a shot in the 95th minute. Morgan Turner was credited with an assist on the play.
DePaul out shot the Bluejays 16-7 in the match and held a 5-3 edge in corners created.
The Bluejays return home to host No. 7 Georgetown on Thursday, Oct. 4th at 7:00 pm in Creighton's annual Pink Game to show support of Breast Cancer Awareness.
