LITCHFIELD PARK, Ariz. -- Creighton rewrote the record book on Monday and Tuesday at the Bell Bank "Pay It Forward" Collegiate in Litchfield Park, Ariz., setting modern program records for best team round, best 54-hole score and tying the program record for best round by an individual.
CU's 874 aggregate over 54 holes was a dozen shots better than its previous low since 2003-04, done Sept. 12-13, 2022 at the MSU/Payne Stewart Memorial. It included scores of 291, 296 and 287. Monday's opening 291 tied the previous best team round, first done April 18, 2023 at the BIG EAST Championships, before smashing that mark by four shots on Tuesday.
One day after senior Morgan Becker posted CU's third-best round since 2003 with an opening-round 69, sophomore teammate Julia Karmazin tied the program record with a third-round 67 that featured five birdies in her first nine holes of the morning.
Both Becker (69-73-72=214) and Karmazin (75-72-67=214) turned in CU's third-best 54-hole score in program history, one shot behind 213's shot by Katherine Lemke (April 21-23, 2022) and later matched by Eleanor Hudepohl (Sept. 11-12, 2023). Becker and Karmazin tied for 22nd place in the field.
Junior Katharine Marshall fired a 225 total with loops of 72, 78 and 75 to tie for 54th place.
Madison Murnan authored the best 54-hole score of her freshman campaign with circuits of 75, 74 and 78. The second round 74 matched her collegiate low and helped her finish 65th overall in the tournament.
Rounding out the Bluejay line-up was sophomore Kayla Maletto, who placed 69th after following two loops of 79 on Monday to complement a closing 73 today. Her 73 was two shots better than her previous collegiate best.
Creighton finished 10th in the field of 14 teams, as USF (272-278-276=826) won the team title by 10 shots over Florida Gulf Coast (283-273-280=836). USF's Regina Plascencia (66-70-68=204) posted a one-shot victory over North Dakota State's Madison Hicks (67-69-69=205) to take home medalist honors in the field of 82 players.
The Blue course of Wigwam Resort hosted the action. The Par 71 layout measured 5,973 yards for Monday's first two rounds before being lengthened to 6,001 yards on Tuesday.
Creighton is back in action on April 13-14 when it plays in Stampede at the Creek at The Club at Indian Creek in Elkhorn, Neb.
